The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is reopening the comment period on its draft guidance for industry concerning fruit and vegetable juices as color additives in food. The public will now have an additional 60 days to submit comments, beginning March 1. The draft guidance, when finalized, will clarify when juices from fruits and vegetables may be used as color additives in food under existing authorizations without additional premarket review and approval from the agency under its color additive petition process.
