International Flavors & Fragrances Inc. (IFF) have announced that it had acquired PowderPure (Columbia Phytotechnology LLC) on April 7, 2017. Founded in the early 2000s and based in Oregon, PowderPure utilizes its patented Infidri drying technology to create all-natural food ingredients by eliminating water while leaving the taste, nutrition and color matrix intact.
Using minimal processing, PowderPure currently focuses on whole fruits and vegetable powders, juice powders, as well as other specialty products. PowderPure’s technology has also been used to effectively repurpose valuable materials resulting from other food processing systems, turning them into useful and nutritious products and saving them from waste streams.
“PowderPure’s unique technology will give us new tools for natural flavors and taste solutions,” Sergio Gelernter, Vice President, Global Category Marketing at IFF tells FoodIngredientsFirst. “As clean label solutions become a greater consumer demand, we expect this segment to grow rapidly over the next few years. We plan to enhance capacity over time to address consumer demand.”
“As the production is very efficient and highly automated, it will produce a small number of jobs for skilled operators and technicians with each new line built,” he notes.
