Taste and Nutrition company, Kerry, has confirmed the acquisition of the Spanish food producer Hasenosa for an undisclosed sum. The Galicia-based company is a producer of added value coatings with a specialty in extruded and gluten-free breadcrumbs and coatings systems.
This acquisition reaffirms Kerry Taste & Nutrition’s commitment to the European market and its customers. Kerry Taste & Nutrition is a global leader and currently has sales in 140 countries worldwide. According to a statement from Kerry, the longevity and foothold that Hasenosa has in the Spanish market, coupled with the breadth and scale of Kerry’s technologies, will see both companies working seamlessly together to anticipate market opportunities to drive growth for customers across the continent.
Created in 1978, Hasenosa currently has 60 employees and two manufacturing sites in Galicia & Castilla y Leon, delivering sales in across more than 20 countries.
In addition to their coatings offerings, Hasenosa also produces glazes, marinades, sauces and fish mixes catering to a variety of different retail and foodservice customer needs. The company also produces specialty flours, batters and tempuras, conventional and Japanese breadcrumbs, texturized vegetable proteins, as well as other products for the precooked, frozen and chilled food industry.
According to Hasenosa, the company is on a mission is to develop the full range of products for their customers and constantly adapt to their technical and commercial needs.

He notes that a trend that we have seen in recent years and which Kerry expects to grow further this year is spicy and ethnic flavors, as consumers continue to expect global cuisines and flavors at home. “As consumers become more familiar with these flavors this paves the way for more exotic and spicy flavors such as Salsa Verde and wasabi. Kerry Taste & Nutrition has also identified a growth in flavors with a healthy halo, such as fennel and turmeric, resulting from the ever-increasing consumer demand for products with a health and wellness element,” O’ Connor explains.
